I’ve just had a phone call from 3 telling me I’m eligible for a free upgrade. This was a nice suprise. Until I had a look at what phones I can have.
To take them in the same order:
- I will never have a Motorola phone again if I can help it. The A1000 that I originally had with 3 was good apart from the Bluetooth wouldn’t work to sync with my PC, which I need for sending photo’s/music to and from it. I have however used a normal V3, and both it’s UI and aesthetics are pap, and the bluetooth didn’t work. PLus, their website is arse. It’s not worth the hassle.
- The LG is horribly feature light. It doesn’t even have MP3 capability, as far as I can tell. This and the fact it looks cheap is enough to put me off.
- The Nokia actually looks OK. But it seems to be fairly ‘old’ from looking at the site. I don’t really want to have an old phone for another year, as it will seem antiquated in 6 months time! I may be wrong on this, but there was still nothing I could see abouth this phone to make me go for it.
- The SE would actually be downgrading from the Z800i I am using at the moment, as it doesn’t take memory cards, amongst other things. I adore SE phones, and almost signed up for this on the phone, but let my judgement kick in and said I’d look into it. I’m glad I did
All in all, I’m going to wait until my contract is up. Then I’ll cancel it. Then I’ll get a contract with an up-to-date phone, and a contract that suits me better. At the moment, I’m paying for 750 anytime minutes a month and using about 100. Which is daft. I really, really want a P990, but it will cost shitloads when it eventually comes out. Or even ANY phone which will sync with linux without having to arse about with config files. We Shall See.
