I use Ubuntu at home. I do however have a hotmail account. The account itself is just a spam trap for the most part, but every now and again I get something worth reading. Normally, the most amusing bits are from hotmail staff. A good example came tonight:
Does your PC need a tune-up?
Visiting the Windows Live Safety Center is like taking your PC in for a tune-up—except this service station is free. You can check for and remove viruses, clean up your hard drive, help increase your PC’s performance, and identify open Internet ports. And you can return to the Safety Center as often as you like. The Safety Center provides quick, on-demand PC health and security scans with straightforward information about online threats including access to the Microsoft Virus Encyclopedia. Tune-up your PC now!
So, I thought I’d have a laugh and click the link. NB: nowhere above does it say I should be running Windows. First off, the link didn’t work. Firefox threw an error out saying the re-direct wasn’t working. Could this be because I’m using Firefox? Hard to say. So I just chopped bits off the URL until I ended up at the ‘Windows Live Safety Center‘. Clicking the scan button on the main page proceeded to tell me I was running an inferior OS & browser and should be put down. Or words to that effect.
So, in conclusion, why do they send me e-mails full of bollocks, and why can’t I add Hotmail Staff to my Junk Mail list in Hotmail?
