Yesterday, at 10:20 Ketch died.
I bought Ketch the week after I left the RAF. I’d moved away from all my RAF friends, all of whom were busy with training, and all of my non-RAF friends had gone away to University. To say I was lonely would be an understatement. So I bought Ketch for company, and for a time he was my only friend I wasn’t related to.
I’m the first to admit that I didn’t give him as much attention he deserved, especially over the last year of his life. For that I feel nothing but regret, and hope he didn’t hate me for it.
Ketch has been laid to rest in our back garden with Youge, my first Hamster.
Thankyou Ketch, for being my friend.
