Laptop Recommendations

Unrelated to my previous post! Yesterday, my boss said:

Steve, get yourself a work laptop. But Don’t spend more than £400

So, seeing as it is for me, I want the most for my money!

  • I would like 2Gb Ram, but am aware I may have to settle for 1Gb.
  • Hard drive is not really an issue. It’s a work laptop, so I don’t need oodles of storage space, however…
  • It will have to run Windows XP Pro by default. I would then be able to run Ubuntu in dual-boot for my ‘Normal’ needs
  • The quicker processor for the money, the better, obviously
  • I’m torn on teh size that I want. I’d like recommendations. I Think I would prefer something portable, as any demos etc would be given on a projector/big screen
  • Please Help!

      Not an Acer! Mine is falling to bits.

      Personally I’d go for something smaller than average as well. You could always pop along to pc world and have a play with some of their machines to get a feel.

      My Acer is falling to bits too! It’s only 14 months old as well. See previous post for full knackerage!

      Try this on for size, dual core, 1GB RAM (you can always install more), and XPPro.

      Also, you don’t say whether that £400 is inc or ex vat. Since the business will probably be paying for it;

      It comes with a faster processor.
